Qualifications

No i haven’t studied equine at college as i’ve been quite thrown off by the colleges around me, from what people have said.

Duties of Current Occupation

Serving customers. All lambing duties, have worked with pigs, sheep and cows. Ridden horses all my life and had my own horses from a very young age so will get on anything and know the ins and outs.

Equine Work Experience

I haven’t worked in a professional environment but worked on a few different yards, one been my aunty’s and for the past 5/6 years i’ve done basically everything with her horses and her livery’s, one of my relatives has a yard of around 30 horses both full time and part time livery’s and there i was in a team with two other girls and mucked out, put the horses on the walker, put them out brought them in, baths them etc. My mums best friend has a small yard and she buys youngsters or horses that haven’t have much done with them and the brings them on and produces them, and as i have no fear and will get on anything i usually get chucked on the ones that no one else will.

Specialities

I do have experience working with foals but when it comes to stallions and broodmares i have worked with them but wouldn’t say i’m very experienced. Throughout i was very into my sport and been captain of many teams, i’ve also been a member of young farmers since i was 10 so been part of a team and teamwork comes naturally to me. I’ve worked on yards with around 30 boxes and mucked out for as long as i can remember, i take pride in everything i do and make sure the boxes are very neat and tidy.

Type of Ride Work

I’ve ridden everything from 3 year olds to 30 years old. As i said above i have no fear and will get on anything, from the day my dad told me you never jump off a horse if it is acting up and if you fall off you have to get back on and ever since then it’s stuck with me. I have a lot of patience when it comes to horses so i will spend a lot of with them and put my time in to get them going. I’ve done showing, eventing, jumping and hunting but my least favourite would be showing.

Competition Details

I’ve competed a lot especially when i was younger but not to a professional level, i’ve done a lot of showjumping and some one-day events but when my pony snapped both his tendons i stopped for a very long time. At my aunty’s yard we have had a few “pony club” days and i have been involved in organising them and it’s been so fun for all the young girls and boys just to see them all together smiling and having a lot of fun.
