Duties of Current Occupation
Horse care, horse training, instructing, leading trail rides, managing payment & scheduling, upkeep of facility.
Equine Work Experience
I have been competitively riding for 14 years. I started out riding western and then switched my main focus to English riding. I currently compete in the hunter/jumper rings at the 1.20m height. I have experience riding horses of all different backgrounds and disciplines. I don’t agree with forcing a horse to do anything, they should always be a willing participant. I’ve worked with horses who have severe ptsd and trauma and successfully built a trusting relationship with them. I’ve worked under my trainer as a working student and I was responsible for feeding, grooming, general horse care, clipping, lunging, exercising, mucking stalls, wrapping and organizing schedules. I also completed many unpaid internships at Colorado Equine Clinic under Dr. Barbra Page. Currently I am working as a wrangler where my duties include horse first aid, horse care, training rides, teaching lessons, leading trail rides, scheduling, and working with children.
Specialities
Horse welfare and care are my top priorities. I always make sure the horses have clean stalls, clean water, are eating regular and are as comfortable as can be. I am quick and efficient when mucking, I don’t cut corners and I work hard until everything gets done. I never ignore signs of discomfort wether that be when mucking a horses stall, or during a lesson.
Type of Ride Work
I’ve ridden horses of many different disciplines, ages and backgrounds. I feel confident riding a green energetic horses, schoolmasters, anxious rescues, and everything in between! I am comfortable riding English, Western or bareback. I believe in reward based training and building a relationship with each individual horse.
Competition Details
I have competed in lower level western events, lower level dressage, showmanship, trail classes, and upper level A rated and nationally/internationally rated hunter/jumper shows. I’ve competed in the rated hunter, jumper and equitation rings. I currently compete in the National Hunter Derbies and 1.20m Jumper classes.
