Working student from age 7 to 12. I did chores around the barn and made sure the horses had everything every day, in return I would get dressage lessons 3-4 times a week. I'm a wrangler guide now, I get horses ready for the day and take guests out.

Starting from age 6 I was lucky enough to take dressage lessons at a local barn in Texas. For six years, until I was 12, I learned horsemanship, groundwork, dressage basics, jumping basics and how to care for horses. We had our fun barn competitions, like into's A,B,C tests, and games to enhance our horsemanship. I learned correct posture and seating in the saddle, what to look for with certain movements of the horse. I am a tour guide wrangler now, so I make sure my chores are done for the day, which could be grooming and saddling, cleaning stalls and waters, or putting out hay for the horses. I take guests out through Garden of the Gods and show them an amazing scene, while on a very enjoyable and safe ride. In the end, I make sure all the horses are untacked, groomed and ready to be let out for the night.

I've competed in plenty of barn competitions and have had great outcomes! Unfortunately, I have only spectated at competition yards and competitions.
