Duties of Current Occupation

Groom, general barn hand, equine camp counselor, assistant/student instructor, has had sole responsibility for up to 10 horses at a time.

Equine Work Experience

I am a current junior at Emory & Henry University in Virginia. I am a member of both IHSA and IDA teams. I have ridden and worked with a wide variety of horses, ranging from seasoned schoolmasters to young OTTBs and everything in between. I have 17 years of riding experience, and roughly 8 years of experience working at barns. I have taught beginner to intermediate-level riding lessons, assisted with summer camp as a counselor, and have temporarily managed barns while trainers and management were attending shows. I have wrapped, clipped, removed braids, prepped feed, cleaned tack, done stalls, moved hay, administered topical and oral medications, and much more. I am always willing to accept light exercise rides and hacks, as well as hand walk, lunge, and hold for vet or farrier. I have groomed at both local shows and A-rated shows as well.

Specialities

I have experience handing nearly all ages of horses with various different behavior types.

Type of Ride Work

My riding experience consists of 17 years of riding in various programs and disciplines. The hunter ring is my primary discipline and where I feel most at home, however I have experience in the low-level jumpers (.80s) and up to training level dressage. I also have experience with reining/cow horses. I'm willing to work with any horse (and rider!) with any experience level. I enjoy the young, green ones and love tuning up schoolmaster/packer types, as well as working on projects or sale horses.

Competition Details

I have experience grooming at both local and A-rated shows. Personally, I have limited competition experience simply due to financial restraint. Most recently I have competed in a few local hunter derbies, as well as introductory-level dressage for my university's IDA team.
