Duties of Current Occupation
My current job duties include training, teaching (from in hand to under saddle), and overall watching over the health and well being of the horses, and any horse care necessary. Keeping the barn organized and tidy. I also massage and KT tape horses.
Equine Work Experience
I started riding lessons when I was 8 years old, it's been my life ever since. I have worked with horses of all ages and genders. I've started youngsters from weanlings & their general handling to starting under saddle. I've done all your typical daily barn work. I worked on a small harness racing farm in Finland, doing all barn work, assisting with training of the young horses, race horses, breeding horses etc. I have worked for two small sales farms. I spent 13 years at a non-profit rescue farm. Started out as assistant trainer and instructor, and through the years, worked my way to management position. I was in charge of staff, volunteers, all equines and other farm animals, administering medications etc, scheduling of all farrier, vet, chiropractor, etc. Ordering of supplies. Training, teaching, social media, office work, barn work, and so much more. I have worked in management for two high end facilities, and a small private barn. Happy to do it all.
Specialities
I'm a hard worker. I'm honest, very easy going and get along with people well. I work well in a team and alone. I can multitask, and do well under pressure. Busy is not a problem for me. I always strive to improve, because there’s always room to learn more. I have worked with horses of all ages and genders, and multiple different breeds. I’m an Irwin Insights certified coach/trainer. Also an Equissage Certified equine sports massage therapist. I’m also learning use of the equine KT tape.
Type of Ride Work
I have mainly ridden English/dressage. No real previous western riding or hunter/jumper experience. My dream is to find a job where I can continue to teach and train, to help human & horse create a strong partnership, with mutual respect. Teaching horses and riders balance and alignment under saddle, and from the ground up. Frame of body, frame of mind, to me is so important. Learning to understand how to help the equine body feel their best.
Competition Details
I have shown a little at A-rated Arabian shows at Region 16 in the past. I've done a small handful of schooling shows. I have worked as a groom as well. It’s been a really long time since I got to go to a show, and those are not important to me currently. Although, I’d really love to work towards those goals again some day.
