Qualifications

I received my BS in equine studies in 2013. I can recognize and appropriately handle basic first aid and red alert vet care situations as well as administer IM and IV injections. I have taken classes and applied knowledge in managing a section of horse trials, equine nutrition, forages and pasture management, equine sports medicine, basic equipment and facilities management and basic young horse training and others including some business classes.

Equine Work Experience

My horse experience started at age 7 with lessons and pony clubbing. I was a working student for an eventing farm with about 15 to 20 horses. I have worked at multiple farms with around 20 to 30 horses for many years including feeding, refilling grain and supplements, mucking, turning in and out, blanketing, wrapping etc and some horse show management/assistance. Ive taught some beginner lessons. I worked as a working student at an eventing barn with 15-20 horses. I’ve worked for a large thoroughbred farm feeding, watering, administering medications, leading mares and foals, assisting with foaling. Most recently was exercising for a small private farm lunging ponies and some riding.

Specialities

My background is in eventing. I have competed successfully at training level and completed a couple prelims in the past. I have retrained a few OTTBs and enjoy it. I also have no problems mucking, feeding, switching horses around, wrapping, confidently give medications or injections, pull/trim manes, clip, tack/untack, clean tack, lunge, whatever needs to get done

Type of Ride Work

I mainly have experience restarting ottbs. But I have flatted and jumped many horses over the years.

Competition Details

I have evented up through the prelim level in the past on my own OTTBs. I have ridden and competed a couple of other OTTB BN and novice level for one farm in the past. I just got back into showing and am currently riding my own training level and just moved up to modified with goals of moving up to prelim next winter season.
