Equine Work Experience

I currently work at a high performance eventing show barn managing the care of 20 horses with 5 other employees over the past three and a half years. I have experience handling horses from 2 years of age and older with various temperaments and quirks. Previously I worked as a team manager for one year during my time in college where I helped to bring in lesson horses, prepare them for a lesson if the rider is running late from class, set up and move jumps for lessons, do laundry, and check to make sure all tack is cleaned and put away nicely. I also worked as a barn assistant for a local barn where I fed horses, assisted with training horses, mucked out stalls and replace bedding, kept the barn clean, and putting blankets on or removing them.

Specialities

Currently work with young warmbloods 3 years and older. I am in charge of a team of 4 other grooms who all work under the same rider in a fast paced environment. Previously I was a captain of the equestrian team in college and the photo editor of the campus newspaper with a team of 3 other photographers.

Type of Ride Work

I have most experience in English riding with flatwork with hunters but have spent the past year with learning dressage at my current job. I also have a little jumping experience up to .80 m I have trained a project horse my senior year of college where I took a horse that was not being used in the showing program and worked with them to build them up to have potential to be shown.

Competition Details

I previously competed in several IHSA Hunt Seat Equitation classes during college and recently did a Combined Training Test with eventing. The current barn I work at travels throughout the year to various shows so I have experience grooming at FEI rated eventing shows up to the 4* level.
