A mature and reliable individual with transferrable skills and a varied work experience, seeks a temp role to complete Ride Safe & general riding. Opportunity to ride out/develop in-hand work welomed. Home counties preferred.
Eager rider and former horse owner looking for work in the Southeast Florida area/ West Palm. I have been around horses my entire childhood and am looking to gain experience in the equine industry now that I am older. I am a quick learner, easily able to adapt, and have a natural passion for horses.
C-1 Trad Pony Club, going for C-2 Dressage in spring. Worked for eventing trainer, Andria Pooley for 2 years, riding sales horses, grooming and general barn care. Worked for dressage trainer, Bill Coester for 1 year, Riding & competing young OTTB, cleaning stalls, baling & putting up hay, groomed and tacked up his horses.
Homework and school work, as well as keeping 2-4 horses in my string riding 6-7 times a week. During summer, I work at the barn doing basic chores and upkeep in exchange for lessons. Ride 7 days a week, 2-4 horses a day.
I started riding English at age 10. Soon after, I joined my local Pony Club getting my D1 and D2 on lesson horses. I got my first lease horse when I was 12, soon after we bought him he coliced, giving me my first real experience with horse care. I learned a lot from that experience, and applied what I learned from my years of Pony Club. I went with the traditional track of eventing, and evented Starter and Beginner Novice. Two years later I got my current horse, this horse, let me tell ya. He is 100% my heart horse, but he has really put me through the wringer. I can't count the injuries he's had in the past 4 years on my fingers and toes. However, from these injuries, I have perfected the art of standing wraps and cold hosing, I also have a keen eye for unsoundnesses, and can treat most wounds. Ben and I attempted eventing, but his lack of confidence gave me lack on confidence over fences, so we moved to the dressage track. There we both flourished.
Along with riding, I also have an interest in Hippo-therapy, and I have volunteered my time at a local therapeutic riding barn. However, they only hold classes April-November.
With my horse, I just do dressage, and participate in clinics. I event my trainers young OTTB at local schooling shows, and participate in clinics, both dressage and eventing. I have been hired to bring/keep horses in work while owners are unable, or if they need help figuring something out, I can usually help.
I've competed in Eventing, Show Jumping, Dressage, Tetrathlon and Quiz rallies for Pony Club. I went to 2017 Pony Club Dressage Championships in Lexington. During summer of 2018 I moved from First level to second, and competed in my first recognized dressage show. I was under prepared and had an ill fitting saddle, which led to frustration and not earning the scores I wanted. I got a new saddle and competed two weeks later, raising my 2-1 score 8%. I have dabbled in eventing, but prefer Dressage
