Bio
Currently in my 30s, looking to get back into the horse world. I was raised around horses, and currently own 2. After I went to college for equine studies, I owned and operated a 6 horse boarding/training barn.Qualifications
In 2015 I graduated from Vermont technical college's equine studies program. This program has given me knowledge in equine training, riding instruction, day to day running of a 15 stall facility, and so much more. Although not in a equine setting I have had management responsible for several years. In the past I have worked as a trainer at McDonald's and an assistant at a child care facility, I feel right at home teaching children of all ages/ability. Currently I work as an assistant manager.
Duties of Current Occupation
Past equine job responsibilities: turnout/in, feeding and preparing grain, ground work exercise, first aid, grooming, stall cleaning, blanket change, grain orders, and handling for appointments.
Equine Work Experience
I have 10+ years of horse experience including: natural horsemanship, working with young horses, grooming, administering medications including IM and oral, equine and human first ad, feeding, turn in/out, blanketing, stall cleaning and more. While getting my degree I spent 3 1/2 years working at Vermont technical college's equine facility, gaining more knowledge and experience in the above as well as: equine training, riding instruction, maintaining arenas/facilities, fence repair, and book keeping. I'm an independent worker that gets stuff done however I also work as a team, even becoming a shift lead for underclassmen. I have knowledge using tractors.
Type of Ride Work
My comfort is in a western saddle, however I have ridden basic English flat work. My current horses are retired so it's been a few years but I'm always open and looking for opportunities to work on my own riding.
Competition Details
I don't enjoy being in the ring at competitions, my comfort zone is at the trailer getting the horses ready to shine or behind a camera. Although I don't have experience at large competitions, I have been a groom at small local shows for family and friends.
