Bio
I am a life-long horse person who grew up "in the business" so to speak. I am passionate about riding and training horses and also enjoy pitching in around the barn as needed. I have a Jack Russell Terrier and a mutt who are pretty good barn dogs.

Duties of Current Occupation

I manage all operations of my 10-stall hunter/jumper training business. I teach about 20 lessons per week and ride about 20 hours per week. I manage a staff of two people to provide the care for all 10 horses.

Equine Work Experience

I am a life-long horse person having grown up in a horsey family. I competed in hunters, jumpers and equitation at the local and regional level as a junior. I turned professional at 19 and worked for my mother for the next 10 years at a large hunter jumper facility with both a riding school and a show program. We selected horses from a variety of sources (ranches, private owners, other stables, breeders, Germany, etc) and developed them for both the amateur and professional divisions at all levels. In 2005 I was a working student at Stall Brinkmann in Hereford, Germany where I groomed at FEI shows and rode at home. I schooled the Grand Prix horses and top young horses on the flat and schooled some of the greener horses over fences. I have ridden all types, sizes and shapes of horses with varying levels of training. I have competed successfully through Grand Prixs and High Performance Hunters. I have earned ribbons at Devon and indoors in the Green and Regular conformation hunters.

Specialities

I am generally a calm, tactful rider and am capable with young, challenging or sensitive horses. I am familiar with all areas of managing a barn and can wrap, clip, braid in a pinch, give IV and IM injections. I know how to fit tack and equipment, provide basic first aid to horses in an emergency and treat sick or injured horses under veterinary supervision. Although it is not my preferred task, I am a safe and proficient riding instructor and show coach.
