Bio
Hello, I am a 23 year old US citizen, looking to expand my education and skills in horsemanship. Thank you.Qualifications
I have no official qualifications, though I did work as a veterinary assistant for several years in a mixed-practice clinic, and I have worked as an assistant trainer for the past 3 years. I am very familiar with caring for animals and all it entails, and I am a fast learner.
Duties of Current Occupation
Starting young horses under saddle with natural horsemanship principles, starting mules under saddle with natural horsemanship principles, schooling ridden horses and restarting older horses, some familiarity with dressage fundamentals and reining.
Equine Work Experience
I have been riding for 18 years, western-style horsemanship influenced by Ray Hunt and his students. In the past 3 years I have worked as an assistant trainer primarily starting young horses & mules.
Specialities
Have worked with foals, young horses, unhandled horses, turned out and performed veterinary directed care on injured horses, worked as a vet assistant for several years. I also have experience with cattle, sheep, and a small amount of experience handbreeding a few well-trained stallions.
Type of Ride Work
My background is more focused on western riding styles, so I am more familiar with reining and cowhorse style foundations, but I do have a foundation in basic dressage movements, as the trainer I worked for would put such a foundation on all the horses we started.
Competition Details
I have no competed and do not have a large interest in competition at this current point in time, I more wish to further my own skills as a horsewoman and learn how to improve my riding and training for the horse's benefit.
