Equine Work Experience
Growing up, I was lucky to have trainers instill in me the value of horsemanship in the saddle and more importantly out. I learned & performed all aspects of horse & barn care from the start. Riding at a small local barn in WI, I didn’t even know showing existed until age 15. I then began competing at rated shows & worked my way from 2’ up to 3’3” hunters & Eq by age 18. Always doing my own grooming was invaluable teaching me the ins & outs of horse management, and how hard work really pays off. I attended SCAD for Equine Studies where course work included principles & applications of horse training, riding instruction, equine industry business, horse & farm management, equine health & medical care, and marketing. In my sophomore year I took a working student position at a nearby farm where I transitioned to jumpers, rode 2-5 horses per day, and worked & showed at WEF. Post college I worked at the stable of a private community as an exercise rider & stable hand until having to move.
Specialities
I consider myself to excel in professionalism, attention to detail, teamwork, and horse welfare centered care. I am hard working, flexible, and eager to learn in all situations. I highly value communication in the work place. Horse shows and barns can be busy and fast paced, so good communication ensures that everything gets done efficiently and to the highest standard.
Type of Ride Work
My background since childhood is in English riding with a focus on Hunters & Equitation in my early years and a shift toward jumpers beginning around age 20. While English Hunt Seat riding is where most of my knowledge is, I've had many opportunities to branch out and work with different disciplines. I've done a good amount of dressage riding, some western pleasure, and even learned to drive with saddlebreds.
Competition Details
Experience competing at "A" rated shows in Jumpers (up to 1.05 m), Hunters (up to 3'3"), and Equitation (up to 3') over the course of 8 years. Previous show venues include Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Georgia International Horse Park, Lamplight Equestrian Center, Chattahoochee Hills Eventing, Ledges Horse Show Grounds, and more local grounds.
