Qualifications
Honestly there are, without a doubt, higher-qualified people out there. I have experience with smaller stables mainly, but I do have experience running a lesson program, boarding barn, dealing with vet, farrier and chiropractor appointments. I've managed a 12 stall boarder barn, catering to individual stipulations of the owners. Assisted at a 38 horse lesson barn, getting horses exercised and students tacked up.
I'd love the opportunity to develop and learn as much as possible.
Equine Work Experience
I started taking English lessons when I was twelve. I've taken a few breaks from it since then, but always circle back. I ride both English and Western, and started over low fences summer 2012. I've played around on my own with barrels and poles. I've worked or assisted in a few barns, ranging from a 5 stall backyard barn to a large scale barn with 38 lesson horses and countless boarders. I also worked at a summer camp for three years.
I have experience managing a lesson program and boarding barns, scheduling farrier and vet appointments, IM injections, pulling loose shoes, etc.
I have two horses - a Welsh X and a solid APHA, both geldings
Specialities
I have plenty of experience managing smaller horse farms, dealing with clients (riding students, camp kids, boarders, etc). I coordinate vet, farrier, hay deliveries, bedding runs, etc. I've been giving lessons about 15 years.
At this point I can say mucking out is probably my most developed skill.
Type of Ride Work
I have, of course, ridden trail horses - the trails and wilderness is very fun to maneuver. I rode in Aruba across the flat beaches, in Kentucky over rocky hills, through the ocean in the Bahamas, etc, etc. I love doing gridwork and hunterpaces. I ride mainly English, but have experience Western as well. Mainly HUS and trails.
Competition Details
I've been to a few shows on the ground, and while there I was sort of the run-around person. I bounced from holding horses for the next class, to shining boots, tacking up and cooling out.
I've shown very rarely myself, as I'm less of an equitation rider and more a schooling rider. Hunter paces are more my thing than the show ring.
Beginning in 2018, I've taken a few of my students to a couple schooling/unrestricted shows including WEC OH scooling series and successfully managed that.
