Duties of Current Occupation

As a horse show secretary, I coordinate officials, process entries, assign stabling, coordinate shavings deliveries, create prize lists, input bills for payments, and serve as payroll processing back up.

Equine Work Experience

Have been around horses since I was 3, would occasionally get to ride throughout my childhood, and started riding lessons at 11yo, and quickly progressed to helping manage neighboring farms ranging from 1-2 horses to 25+ horses—managing turnout, feeding, mucking stalls, hay, water, checking horses for injuries or other issues that might have arisen overnight (summer night turnout) or during the day (winter day turnout) so the matter can be handled as needed (medication/vet call/farrier/etc.) and alerting owners. Able to administer medications orally and IM--willing to learn to give shots IV. Comfortable treating and bandaging most wounds—bodily or hoof related.

I’ve groomed at shows and helped coach an IEA under Anne Carter "AC" Jones for one season—so used to helping get younger riders mounted, warmed up, and ready to go. Comfortable schooling ponies of all sizes at 5’0” and 107lbs.

Specialities

First aid including bandaging difficult areas & IM and IV shots. Quick with stalls while leaving no shavings unturned. Handy around the farm on a tractor, fixing fences, and minor farm repairs. Comfortable with standard chores (mucking, feeding, turnout, water, hay, etc.) but also comfortable on a tractor, fixing fencing, or minor repairs around the farm. No chore to big or small, and if I don’t know how to do something or need a refresher—I’m a quick learner and won’t hesitate to ask for help.

Type of Ride Work

I’ve worked with/ridden horses in all levels of training from groundwork only to finished horses. Experience bringing horses back into work either after a break or after an injury. Used to tailoring a horse’s work to its needs and experience.
