Duties of Current Occupation
I have volunteered and worked at many stables and farms, so I have had numerous responsibilities. Everything from stall work, to high turnout, to making/mixing the correct food, supplements and medications for horses with special requirements
Equine Work Experience
I have ridden horses and taken lessons since childhood thanks to an aunt who trains Tennessee Walkers. Along with some Saddlebreds and other gaited breeds. She taught me a lot and I still go and help her out to this day. I currently volunteer at a rescue known as Winterfrost farms. I have worked and ridden there for well over seven years. I currently even work with the horses and help train them so they can be adopted out. Everything from the most basic ground work to advancements like learning leg ques in the saddle. I have learned many different kinds of disciplines during my twenty one years of life and always try my best to be open to learning anything new I can about horses and riding.
Specialities
I have worked with horses that require special needs such as seniors, foals, and the sick and injured. I have worked with rescues for years so I often deal with horses that have physical and mental trauma. Along with high anxiety. The place I volunteer at has many horses in shared areas, with most on 24/7 turnout with only a few being in stalls. I have lead large teams of volunteers and managed many horses and people at once. I have lead everything from group feedings, to trail rides to lessons.
Type of Ride Work
I grew up on the back of gaited breeds and know more about them and their disciplines than anything else. I've worked with many different kind of horses, from the largest of the draft breeds to ponies to high strung racing breeds. We get a lot of thoroughbreds and mixed breeds at the rescue. Most of the training with the rescues that I do is groundwork and flatwork. I have done a lot of trail work and have stuck mostly to western riding, but I dabbled in jumping for a few short months.
