Equine Work Experience
Willington Hall Riding Centre. 2011-2015. Here I developed and consolidated my skills in handling horses. In this role, I interacted with members of the public and clients. On many occasions, I was asked to run the pony end of the stables by myself. This experience enabled me to develop the following skills:
• Equine husbandry
• Time management and organisational skills
• Resolving issues relating to bookings and payments
Kinsey Racing Stables. Here I helped in the day to day running of the yard and handled young horses around 3/4 years of age.
Ashbrookes Equine Hospital. I observed many routine things such as x-rays and injections. I also observed a suspensory ligament operation and spent a day on the A.I ward.
I work well in a team
I am very organised, motivated and meticulous in my work
I have good people skills and work well with the public
I have been around horses since a young age and have good horsemanship and equine husbandry skills
Type of Ride Work
At Willington Hall Riding Centre, I rode every week in either a flat or jump lesson. I also hacked out on occasion and was sometimes asked to work a horse that hadn't been used in regular lesson or if they had spent a period of time off due to lameness.
At Kinsey Racing Stables, I was able to ride a couple of times during my time there which allowed me to try a new style of riding on a different type of horse.
