All yard duties at showjumping/sales yard. Hacking, lunging and schooling on the flat. Handling stallions and youngstock. Preparing horses for shows. Occasional sole charge.
I have ridden since I was a child. On leaving school I trained as a working pupil for a year before attending Duchy College in Cornwall to study an equine course. On completion I trained as a dressage groom in Hereford for David Pincus, here I gained valuble experience with dressage horses including grooming at National level. I gave up working with horses for a few years before securing a head grooms job at a local riding school escorting rides/teaching and assisting in the daily running of the yard. I have also worked for an equine charity involved in rescuing and rehoming and have worked as an equine specialist for two agricultural retailers advising on feed, supplements, hat fitting etc. Previous experience grooming for BE up to intermediate and turning out hunt horses. Recently I have been working as a groom for showjumpers, February 2018 I accompanied a rider with two horses to the Sunshine Tour where we stayed and competed for six weeks.
I would consider myself to be reliable, responsible and efficient. I always work to the best of my abilities, ensuring horses in my care are well looked after and all yard duties are carried out to the highest standard. Having worked in retail I have gained excellent communication and customer care skills, as well as maintaining good working relations with other team members. I always pull my weight!!
I've ridden a wide range of horses from breaking, youngsters, green or inexperienced horses, hunt horses, dressage school masters ( lateral work including canter half pass and changes).Mainly exercising, schooling on the flat and over fences, hacking out and escorting rides.
Only competed at low level local events, dressage, s/j up to 3ft, hunter trials.
