I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
I have a DBS check certificate as of 2015
I have a full drivers license.
I have all of my GCSEs with B's in English and Maths, I also passed all of my A-Levels.
I have been around horses my whole life and have had my own since I was 11. I brought on my 13.2h new forest pony from 3.5years old.
I was a member of pony club for 5 years, been to rallies and 4 camps. Through pony club I have volunteered at their championships and carried out tasks including dressage writing, fence judging and showjump score writing. I also ran admin at my branch's open shows; taking entries, filling out ring information and paying the judges. I also ran my own ring at the branch's showjumping show for the past few years.
I worked as a groom at a livery yard for 1 year, duties included turning in and out, rugging appropriately, haynets, keeping the yard tidy, skipping out, picking out hooves, feeding and vet/dentist visits. I have a background in Parelli and natural horsemanship. I keep my horses with an ex second rider for 2 olympic eventers, so I know how competition yards are run. Most recently I had sole charge of a private yard of 5 horses for 4 months.
