I don't have any horse-specific qualifications, I am educated to degree level and I am up to date with first aid training. I have completed various other trainings specific to my previous job in the UK as a support worker with young adults with learning difficulties (diabetes, safeguarding, autism etc) and I hold a basic teaching qualification.
I have been working on a thoroughbred breeding/agistment property in South Australia since January where I have helped during yearling sales preparation to undertake all manner of horse care and general help around the property.
I have ridden since childhood on horses and ponies of varying breeds and ages. I have owned an ex-racehorse for the past 7 years, and gone on to compete her in all disciplines. I have experience in all areas of horse care, lunging and riding, to a good amateur level on my own horse. I have previously done voluntary work oversees with horses; in Tuscany, Italy I worked on a stud farm where I took care of young stock, foals, mares and stallions. I drove a John Deer around the property checking on horses, feeding and watering, holding foals for the vet, leading, helping to load and unload and mucking out. And in Uruguay I spent time on a sheep and cattle ranch where we mustered sheep and cattle, rounded up and tacked up the horses and helped with the livestock to brand and shear amongst other things.
I have an interest in all equestrian diciplines and would love to gain knowledge and skills in particular in: Mustering, Trail guiding/trekking, Cutting, Eventing, Polo, Endurance
I have a lot of life experience, having worked and studied across many areas (health and social care, hospitality and catering, education, retail) and solo travelled around several parts of the world. I love to be outside and active, doing practical tasks. I have experience cooking, gardening, caring for children and elderly people and looking after animals from lizards to horses and everything in between! I can lend a hand to anything and love to challenge myself and learn new skills.
