Duties of Current Occupation

I worked in a rescue yard for 4 years which bred my passion for handling and retraining horses with issues. I have limited riding experience but love groundwork such as lunging, long reining etc. I have managed yards in England and Australia.

Equine Work Experience

i have been around horses since i was a kid always working at riding schools to get a free lesson on a sunday or to join in the pony club games on special occasions. moved on to volunteering at a horse sanctuary whilst at school which led to me getting a full time job on their rehabilitation yard where i became a senior team leader overseeing 20+ staff members and the overall welfare of the horses that would come in to us. i have spent the past year in australia being a yard manager at a dressage yard with the sole charge of looking after their 12 warmbloods who ranged from a 2 year old at the beginning of his career to a 28 year old retired gelding who had a gentle exercise routine to keep him active and healthy. this included being responsible for girls who would come over to spend a month or so with us from overseas to ride our horses and learn from my boss. i have also dealt with vets, farriers and dentists when needed and made feed plans and ordered anything required.

Specialities

I trained under various companies to handle and rehabilitate wild horses. working at a sanctuary led me to deal with a lot of welfare cases and abused horses that need the extra bit of time and patience. I also learnt some natural horsemanship in Australia from the 'Double Dans' who specialize in liberty work and trick training.

Type of Ride Work

as a kid I had riding lessons for fun and recently I worked for a trainer who taught me some basic dressage skills. I am not a strong rider due to an accident a few years ago but I am passionate about being on the ground, training and starting so that I can then go on to help the riders and learn more and hopefully build my confidence back up to where it used to be.
