I was responsible for running a horse barn of twenty four horses, along with three other wranglers at a Summer camp in the United States. I also taught western riding and horse care lessons to campers from the ages of eight to fourteen.
Equine Work Experience
I have been horse riding for fourteen years and I have owned horses and ponys since I was eleven years old. I have competed in dressage, showing, show jumping and evening competitions as well as being part of my local pony club. I also competed for the University of Sheffield equestrian team representing them in BUCS competitions and varsity. I also ran a horse barn of twenty four horses in a summer camp in minnesota, USA from May 2016 until August 2016. This involved being responsible for the horses upkeep on a day to day basis, creating a feeding scedule tailored to each individual horse, administering first aid when needed, including cleaning wounds and bandaging and treating colicing horses, setting up the barn before the horses arrived, training the horses before the campers arrived, excercising the horses when needed, leading lessons on horse care and western riding to campers from eight to fourteen years. As well as the general upkeep of the barn.
Type of Ride Work
I have been riding english style from the age of seven, however I rode and taught western style riding to children from May 2016 until August 2017. I also lead trail rides for campers.
I have competed in local showing, dressage, show jumping and eventing competitions from the age of eleven. I also began competing in affiliated British Eventing competitions however due to horse at the time becoming injured I had to stop. I have also competed in BUCS dressage and show jumping competitions representing the University of Sheffield.
