Longdean Stud(September 2015- September 2016) I was responsible for managing one member of staff, 9 livery horses, 3 broodmares and 6 personal horses (owner's). Duties: stable cleaning, making feeds, basic medical care including administration of medication and wound care. Also for ordering feed, bedding, hay and haylage for all horses and paddock management. Furthered my handling experience of broodmares, foals, young stock, ex-racing and fit competition horses. I did a small amount of riding; mainly hacking of inexperienced horses. Interaction with a variety of owners, farriers and vets helped me to improve my communication skills. Being able to turn out to a high standard was very important including:bathing, tail washing, leg and tail bandaging, tack cleaning and mane plaiting. Cotswold Arabians(March 2014 -July 2014) I had a high level of responsibility working with various ages of horses; mares with foals and nervous yearlings to 3-year-old show colts and fit ridden mares.
Mottingham Farm Riding Centre(Oct 2003- Nov 2010 & July- Sept 2014) The long time I spent at this riding school means my roles changed throughout my time here. I started off as a general helper. I then became a yard worker and then started teaching rides; which involved preparing horses, teaching 4-5 hours and then completing evening checks. I also completed 10 weeks work placement where I had a high level of responsibility in the yard as well as teaching lessons of all abilities.
