I have worked with horses for a year, everything being taught from the very basics. When I was young I attended a riding school for a few years. Being an apprentice has taught me a lot about basic horse care and has increased my confidence and handling of horses. My riding is quite basic but I am looking to improve my riding as much as possible. I can walk and trot confidently, whereas I lost my confidence with canter from a terrible fall which has unfortunately knocked my confidence.
I recently worked on a training yard. The training was different, it was a positive reinforcing training yard which focused on the behaviour and feelings of horses. As I was an apprentice, I learnt a lot and assisted with the training. Although I didn’t become a fully qualified trainer, I played a massive part within each training session.
