I am currently studying to begin my BHS exams
While in education, I spent my summers working for a rescue centre and riding school. The yard was split into three areas. The riding school, the rescue centre and the carriage horses. My main duties were to ensure all horses were mucked out, groomed, tacked up when necessary and most importantly, happy. The Friesian stallions that we housed on the main yard were also a priority as their happiness depended on the level of care and understanding they received. Daily checks were also made to the rescued and retired horses that were turned away. I also assisted inteaching young children and the RDA to ride.
I spent last season working for a racing yard. Our mornings began at 7am mucking out. Each day would then follow its own schedule such as hacking out, schooling, jumping or work on the gallops. The yard trained both Point-to-point horses and under rules as well as having two broodmares. The experience was incredible as we often got to host clinics with Yogi Breisner.
I have experience in racing, showjumping, endurance and flatwork.
In my personal life, I have two of my own horses. A 10-year-old cob who I backed a broke myself at 3y/o and has most recently competed in the show jumping classes at Burwarton Show. The newest addition, a 10-year-old ex-racer who I hope will compete in one day events in the near future.
Due to work or family commitments I have only managed to compete at Burwarton County Show in the last few years, however I am working towards bringing my horses on to a higher standard so that I can take part in clinics and register with the BSJA and ROR.
