I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
I have had experience with horses my entire life in breeding, training, and small competitions. I have handled diffferent breeds and types of horses including foals and stallions. I have a four year degree in Equine Science. I have worked at highly competitve international showjumping stables as well as a top dressage stable. I am a good, confident rider, but I have a desire to always be improving my riding which I believe is a never ending process and you can learn from everyone.
I have just returned from starting young warmbloods in Texas.
I grew up on a ranch where we bred, trained, competed, and sold sporthorses. We mainly foxhunted, though growing up I also showed in local hunter/jumper shows. I started and trained horses and helped with lessons for beginners on the ranch. Living on a ranch I was responsible for daily duties including, feeding, excercising, stable maintenance, and basic equine first-aid. During the summer growing up I also spent time working with my mother a farrier, I held horses for her as well as pulled and finished shoes. I recently received a Bacholer's of Science in Equine Science from Colorado State University. In college I worked with a therapeutic riding program. After graduating from college I have been hired by various people to start and train their horses. These have been horses, ranging from American Quarter Horses, to a Shire PMU colt, to warmbloods. I have worked in Europe at international showjumping stables. I have also worked and ridden for a talented dressage rider
Jumpers, foxhunting, working with young horses, starting young horses, have also ridden for a Grand Prix Dressage rider.
I have an English riding background, with a focus on foxhunting and jumpers. I have started and trained many horses which is what I enjoy doing most. I have even had some experience starting horses Western for trail and pleasure. I have schooled horses on the flat and over fences at showjumping stables in Europe. I have worked and ridden for a Grand Prix dressage rider, which was my first experience at dressage, but I learned a great deal and would be interested in learning more.
I have competed successfully at local hunter/jumper shows.
