I have done the Level 3 Extended diploma Equine Management and finished with a D*DD.
Looking after 21 horses on a busy competition yard, including feeding, muck outs, exercising, tacking up for the boss or liveries and making sure the horses are presented well.
I have worked on a busy competition yard since 1st of December, dealing with top event horses and hunters. I have done 2 weeks of work experience during college at Brampton Stables, which is a riding school and livery yard and I really enjoyed it. I have also done 2 weeks of work experience on the college yard, as well as completing many sessions per week on stable management during my two year college course. During my early stages of learning to ride I was able to help out on weekends at my riding school which allowed me to learn how to tack up and untack, muck out, groom, and meet all of the horses and clients. I have been riding for over 11 years and even loaned a horse during completion of my college course, this made me fully responsible for that horse and treated it like my own.
I have good experience working within a team from my previous occupations, and have had a few sole charge days in my current job, and have learnt to try and help anyone when I can. I can muck out quite quickly and love to keep a tidy yard as it is much safer for the horses and staff, as well as looking more professional. I am a very hardworking and reliable person, and love to learn!
Within the months I've been at my current job, I have been exercising hunt horses and eventers, mainly hacking with a bit of schooling. During college I rode a range of horses, from young green horses, strong hunter horses, and even retired competition horses. I have done cross country training and jumping to 90-1m and dressage to prelim. I am very keen to progress and be able to ride more competitively, as well as learn to start young horses. I have also been riding for 11 years.
At my current job I have been grooming at Combined training and also eventing at Tweseldown. During my college course I was able to help out at the one day events, some days I was a dressage steward and kept the whole day running smoothly and competitors on time, other days I was fence judging the cross country or pole picking at showjumping. I would like to start competing and get experience in this from other local venues. I do enjoy getting off the yard and being in a competition environment.
