As a Wrangler and Trail Guide with Banff Trail Riders, you will be required to take care of our herd of nearly 300 horses and mules. The core aspect of your role will be guiding tours on horseback, demonstrating your knowledge of the horses, the mountains, and the environment to provide an informative and entertaining experience to guests of Banff National Park. In addition to this, horses provided to the staff will need training, to various degrees, and you will be asked to assist in their development in the hopes they may be a safe companion for future guests.
This position will require you to:
Co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments Establish work schedules and procedures Perform same duties as workers supervised Prepare and submit reports Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality Assist clients/guests with special needs Co-ordinate, assign and review work Hire and train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies Requisition materials and supplies Provide outdoor, wilderness and wildlife instruction Supervising a team of 5-10 people
Qualifications: Proficient horseback riding experience (Western preferred). Previous seasonal work experience is preferred. Strong customer service experience. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. An interest in the Western lifestyle. Valid Wilderness or Remote First-Aid certificate. Higher Education (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) is an asset. Staff accommodation may be available upon request. French speaking is a considerable asset.
