Private Yard Manager & Children’s Riding Teacher–Richmond Park, SW London We’re looking for a warm, experienced and reliable Yard Manager who also enjoys teaching children to ride, to join our small, private setup. We have 2 Andalusian horses and 2 childrens ponies which belong to one family. You’d be in sole charge of the day-to-day care, but the owner lives on site, and the pony owners (10,8 & 6) visit daily and help look after them, so a close relationship is important.

💼 The Role Includes: Daily care of 2 horses and 2 ponies (feeding, mucking out, grooming, exercise etc as required) Teaching riding/ helping my kids when they ride (mostly after school on weekdays in termtime, and Saturdays) Supporting my children at shows and outings occasionally Riding opportunities – schoolwork and hacking in Richmond Park Yard and tack maintenance to a high standard The ability to confidently drive a large 3/4 horsebox – or willingness to learn. Ordering of supplies for the yard and coordinating services such as the farrier, vet etc as required Working with the property manager to oversee maintenance supervising the children as appropriate at the stables in the holidays, and taking them out hacking.

🙋 Who We’re Looking For: Someone experienced, calm, confident and kind with both horses and children Reliable, organised, and happy working independently, and managing yourself and a yard. A capable, sympathetic rider – confident riding fit horses. We believe in a gentle and calm approach. Enthusiastic about teaching children and helping them progress in a fun, positive way

Salary: £55,000 per year. 37.5 hours per week. Optional flexible working pattern to suit by agreement, minimum 2 Saturdays per month (even just 3 hours) and 2 evenings per week to 6.30pm. Split shifts available. Opportunity to manage own hours outside of requirements.

Live-out position. Flexible hours, but regular availability needed after school and occasional weekends.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who will really take an interest in the horses and in helping my children grow in confidence and skill, and develop their ability. There’s the opportunity to support them at local shows, and to ride two lovely horses in the stunning park or in the ménage, as well as go on trips and have fun! We also have a holiday home in Wales so the person must be willing to travel there to look after the horses (accommodation included), up to a maximum of 28 days per year. The person will also be required to drive a horsebox in order to take them between wales and London.

Must have a UK driving licence (training to drive the horsebox can be arranged) The role would suit someone who is looking for a long term position with flexible hours, and who wants some riding but mostly is happy managing a yard and passing on their love of horses to kids!

This role would really suit someone laid back who enjoys working in a relaxed and quiet private yard, and who is happy to become a trusted and valued part of our family’s life at the stables. There’s a lot of variety and freedom here for the right person – and we really value someone who takes pride in what they do
