Practical Instructor – Equine Management Location: Shuttleworth College, Old Warden Salary: £26,780 – £31,415 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications) Hours: 37 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday Contract: Permanent, Full Time
We are looking for a dedicated Practical Instructor in Equine Management to join the Animal Sciences team at The Bedford College Group.
In this hands-on role, you will support student success by delivering practical sessions in equine care and riding, maintaining high standards of horse care, and ensuring the safe and effective operation of our equine centre. You will be responsible for mucking out, paddock maintenance, preparing horses for use in teaching, and ensuring the health and welfare of the horses on site. You will also act as a point of contact in the absence of the Yard Manager, liaising with students, staff, and livery owners.
Requirements include:
A Level 3 qualification in Horse Management
BHS Stage 3 Coach certification
Strong equine sector experience including riding, yard work, and supporting students
Excellent organisation, communication, and practical teaching skills
A full UK driving licence
A flexible and professional approach, aligned with the College’s values
As part of the interview, candidates will be required to ride (note: 13 stone weight limit applies).
