We are currently offering a position as Head Groom on a private family yard near Hungerford to join our existing team of three grooms.

The stables consist of 18 loose boxes situated on a magnificently purpose built yard, currently accommodating 16 horses consisting of a healthy mixture of TBs and cobs as well as some small ponies. Accommodation is available if required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES • The successful applicant will care for the horses maintaining good health and identifying potential health issues • Have sound knowledge of veterinary skills and first aid • Administer treatments and medications where necessary • Assist vets, chiropractor, dentist and farrier • Show a comprehensive form of reporting any issues to the stable manager • Ensure stables and all surrounding areas are clean and organised at all times • Check and maintain all equipment on the yard • Sound knowledge of fitting tack • Training and schooling all resident horses • To be flexible in terms of working hours, and a team player essential • Overseeing all paddock maintenance • Occasionally assisting the ride leader on group hacks • Oversee coaching in the arena

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS • Confident good standard of riding • A good level of experience in clipping, trimming and turning out to a high standard • Full driving licence • Towing a Cheval4 box trailer (training can be given on site) • UKCC Level 2 • BHS Level 2 Riding and Care preferred
