Millfield School is seeking an experienced Groom to join our Equestrian Centre team. This opportunity is ideal for someone with previous experience in a professional yard environment who is a confident and capable rider. Applicants must be aged 18 or over due to the age group of students they will support.
Our Equestrian Centre features indoor and outdoor arenas and stabling for up to 40 horses. You will be responsible for the care and wellbeing of allocated horses while supporting the day-to-day running of the yard, including riding and exercising horses.
As a BHS approved centre, Millfield is committed to staff development. You will gain experience in all aspects of stable management and have access to our groom development programme, with training opportunities to support qualifications within the BHS Excellence Pathway.
We have both a 52-week, full-time position and a term-time only position available.
The role is based on a five-day working week, with two weekly rest days allocated on a fortnightly rotating rota. For the 52-week position, our full-time grooming team works 7:30am to 5:30pm during school holidays and 6:45am to 6:30pm during term time. The day is split by a tea break for breakfast and a 1.5-hour lunch break. On average, you will work 48 hours per week.
The term-time only position follows the same working pattern during term time but does not require attendance during school holiday periods.
In both roles, you will be allocated two hours per week for staff training, providing riding or practical training opportunities with our team of coaches.
Millfield School offers a salary package that includes payment towards ongoing exam and assessment fees. The salary for the 52-week, full-time position is £31,724.16 per annum. The salary for the term-time only position is £21,761.68 per annum (inclusive of holiday pay).
