We are looking for 1or 2 enthusiastic people to join our team. Our current staff team are fun, dedicated and have a great work ethic and we are prepared to be super flexible to find the right person or people with the same attitude. That, and good experience is way more important to us than anything else. We all work hard and are passionate about offering the best of care to our horses, but together as a team to support each other and make each others lives work and that is what we need in our new team members.
We can offer up to 1.5 posts that could be full or part time, employed or freelance. We offer a 5 day week and 28 days holiday or pro rata for those fully employed and work with our freelance staff to conisder their needs a swell as the business needs. Everyone has to be able to work weekends but equally, we try and give everyone some time off at weekends and take into consideration individuals need to see partners, family and friends
Job roles that need to be covered between people include supervision of junior staff, coaching, paddock and arena maintenance and groom work. Obviously, we do not expect that one person is likely to be able to cover all roles
This could be a full time (5 days/week) or part time (3 or 4 days/week) position
Whichever roles potential candidates are thinking they would like to cover, they must have good communication skills with staff and owners, as well as practical experience and be happy to lead and handle fit, bigger horses on the ground. They should be organised and tidy and have a happy outlook on life with a good work ethic. We will in turn invest in staff to ensure they develop themselves through coaching qualifications, short courses or developing their leadership skills towards a manager position.
We are a really fun team to be part of who are all ambitious and want to do the best they can but also have fun along the way!
Please see other requirements box for more information on individual roles
Requirements
The Yard Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring efficient running of the yard and helping junior staff alongside / in the absence of our Yard Manager, Daisy who has now been with us for over 5 years. I have a range of horses from youngsters just being backed, through to a horse who has just been selected for the U25 World Championships and a horse competing regularly at Badminton and Burghley. There is the opportunity for some riding which will mainly be hacking / fitness work, potentially some schooling of liveries but equally but riding is not essential. On the grooming side, our horses have to be cared for to the highest level whilst still being allowed to "be a horse". Attention to detail to spot any signs of potential injury or ill health is crucial to ensure horses' welfare and the person should be able to turn out to a high standard
The coaching role is primarily for our riding school and PC Centre, Cotswold Hill Riding Centre, but may include coaching a few liveries. We pride ourselves on a high standard of coaching, giving our clients a good depth of knowledge and tailoring it to their wishes. We have a lot of young riders that need to learn, but also to be kept engaged and have fun. As they progress clients wishes and goals are important. Some people ride to compete at the highest level, whilst others ride for an outlet from work or school and to have fun with friends. Both are equally valid reasons for riding and so it is essential to strike the balance of fun / information for individuals. Our coaches need to have thorough knowledge to draw from but also an engaging, fun personality. We have children from 4years old just starting through to people out competing on our horses so there is a nice variety of coaching.
Paddock, arena and yard maintenance include moving small Heston and standard bales between yards, bedding, water and harrowing, paddock blading, topping and minor repairs.
Accommodation
There is accommodation available to rent locally or we can offer a shared mobile home or a very nice caravan which isn't, but could be plumbed into the mains water , has a fixed double bed, permanent lounge and kitchen area.
Job Benefits
Other than obviously remuneration:
Opportunity to learn from our experienced Yard Manager who has also travelled to the Europeans with the GB Pony Squad.
Opportunity to work towards further qualifications
Experience the thrill of a busy, upcoming event yard with horses from 3yo - 5*
Pension provided
28 days holiday / year

Equestrian Employer Details
We now have 3 separately staffed yards: Event Yard with Tom Bird: I am a young event rider who has ridden to 5* completing Burghley as the youngest competitor in 2023 and was 2nd at Bramham in the U25's. I have event horses ranging from youngsters being backed through to 5* Level with horses being aimed at Badminton, Bramham and Burghley including Sept 2024. Although I am younger I have grown up helping clients and would like to think that if you asked my staff or clients, they would say that I had excellent people skills The Livery Yard has adults with RC horses, younger children learning to compete and taking part in pony club, but we now have a lot of children with ponies working towards Pony Trials who need help and support both schooling their horses and at competitions. All are lovely - we are very lucky! The Riding School is very friendly encouraging clients to be involved in care of the horses rather than just arriving to ride. Many learn to compete on our school horses
