MH Equine Riding School is seeking dedicated, professional, and experienced Novice Horse Camp Counselors for our 10‑week Summer Camp Program. We are looking for individuals who are patient, kind, safety‑minded, and genuinely enjoy teaching children in an equine environment.
Position Overview Counselors will assist with mounted and unmounted instruction, supervise campers ages 5–12, and help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning atmosphere. This role requires strong horsemanship skills, confidence handling a variety of horses and ponies, and the ability to work collaboratively with our instructional team.
Camp Schedule Camp Dates: June 8 – August 23 Week 1: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM Weeks 2–10: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM Additional barn hours may be available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities Supervise and engage campers during all mounted and unmounted activities Assist instructors with daily riding lessons Teach grooming, tacking, horsemanship, and barn safety Support horse preparation, transitions, and group management Maintain a safe, organized, and professional environment Lead age‑appropriate games, activities, and educational sessions Enforce safety rules consistently and appropriately
Qualifications Prior horse handling experience required (English preferred) Experience teaching or working with children Strong communication skills and a positive, team‑oriented attitude Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a busy environment Reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
