Experienced Live In Groom/Barn Manager to take care of four German Warmbloods and two Miniature Horses on Small Private Farm in Malibu, CA.

The qualified candidate must love horses and be good with dogs, must be honest, responsible, reliable, trustworthy, hardworking, self motivated, organized, neat and clean, confident around large horses and be proficient in equine first aid.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• grooming
• show grooming
• feeding
• basic medical and therapeutic care
• tacking and untacking
• tack cleaning and horse laundry
• turnout
• hand walking,
• blanketing
• wrapping
• night checks
• body clipping
• some stall cleaning
• barn organizing
• ordering supplies
• loading horses and pulling trailer
• occasional traveling to horse shows

The qualified candidate must be fluent in English, not be a heavy drinker or use drugs, have a valid CA driver’s license and experience driving a horse trailer (2 horse bumper pull and 40 foot 4 horse goose neck). Driving a tractor is a plus as is speaking Spanish.

A nonsmoker is preferred.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 lbs at all times.

The qualified candidate will be working 5-6 days a week (including 1 - 2 evenings doing last hay feeding and cleaning up) with one other horse groom plus one other staff who does stall cleaning and all the feeding during the day. Both these additional staff live off the property.

This is a full time residential position. We are only interested in a long term commitment.

Salary is based on experience.

Housing is provided for in a fully equipped and furnished 1 bedroom/1 bathroom house with a large patio, wifi and cable tv. All utilities are included. Regrettably we cannot accommodate any dogs as we have three large dogs ourselves that don't do well with other dogs. We also have three barn cats living in the groom house.
