Working student desired to help with busy Dressage Training Facility. Responsibilities include general care, grooming, tacking and un-tacking, riding, and some barn work. THIS IS A RIDING POSITION, not a stall cleaning position. However, if the barn is short staffed, you may be asked to step in. Depending on skill set, starting young horses along with lunging and riding client's horses. Travel to clinics and shows may be an opiton. Along with weekly stipend, working student has the ability to earn money through teaching beginner lessons and grooming tips at horse shows. Position also includes housing with utilities and board for one horse.

Applicants need to be organized, hard working, have time management skills and ready to learn.

Trainer's Bio- Kathleen Mitchell Petersen, USDF bronze and silver medalist and L Program graduate with over 26 years of experience in training and caring for horses. Kathleen spent several years as a student and working student of Michael & Sharon Poulin. She has also ridden with such greats as Major Anders Lungren, the late Franz Rochowansky, Robert Dover, and Lilo Fore. Kathleen trained the 2014 USDF Horse of the Year at Second Level, Aurora 1. Kathleen and Aurora 1 were also seventh at the 2014 US Dressage Finals at Second Level and nineth at First Level. In 2016, the pair were Fourth place in the USDF Horse of the Year for Fourth Level. Kathleen and Pasco/ Lady's King were nineteenth in the 2015 USDF Horse of the Year standings for Intermediate I. In 2018, Kathleen and Aurora 1 were ranked fifth in the KWPN Open Awards for Intermediate I. Kathleen and her mount, Godelieve, were third at the 2019 US Dressage Finals in Second level. In 2022, Kathleen and her mount, "It's Showtime" won the Region 3 Championships in First and Second Level and won Reserve Championship in the US Dressage Finals. Kathleen co-owns Annwyn Equestrian Center, a premier dressage training facility located right outside Tampa, FL.

Job Benefits

Housing and all utilities included, board for 1 horse, weekly stipend, 3 lessons a week with either your horse or one of Annwyn's horses. Lesson money is also possible.
