Full care of 4 privately owned horses for HITS Saugerties, August 24-30. Horses are sweet, goofy little characters and clients are warm and welcoming.
Duties to include but are not limited to: Stall cleaning 2*day and adding shavings as needed, cleaning and refilling water, feeding hay, feeding grain prepared by trainer, grooming, bathing, basic trimming, tacking up and untacking, removing braids, bringing horses to and from the ring, hand walking and grazing horses daily, tack cleaning, wrapping, packing feet, keeping barn area clean and organized.
As with most horse farm work, this position requires heavy lifting, bending, climbing, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above the shoulders, walking on uneven and/or slippery terrain and other physical stresses; as well as exposure to extreme heat and cold, sun, dust, hay and other common allergens. This position includes outside work in all weather conditions. In addition, Grooms are required to be able to handle horses of all temperaments. Grooms must have reliable transportation regardless of weather conditions.
