Position Summary: Barn staff assist with every aspect of horse care, including vet and farrier visits, feeding, daily mucking, turnout and barn chores. This role requires an knowledge of horses, quick decision making, flexibility, and leadership qualities.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to legally work in the US
  • Must have valid driving license, reliable (and weather safe) transportation, and willingness to travel in bad weather
  • Equine and barn experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & personal integrity
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds for up to 10 feet and sustain aerobic activity for 30 consecutive minutes
  • Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting
  • Must be able to tolerate a variety of outdoor conditions, varying turf surfaces, air-conditioned buildings, and fluorescent lights
  • Must be able to operate and use equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job
  • Exercise common sense and can take initiative to accomplish tasks and make decisions

Requirements

Primary Duties:

  • Following feeding, mucking & turnout schedule
  • Dispensing & applying prescribed medications and treatments

Other Duties:

  • Responsible for feeding and seeking medical care for equines/animals on the property as necessary
  • Consulting with management and other staff as needed
  • Help in special events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
