We are looking for a barn manager to join our team focused on excellence in breeding registered miniature, micro and wooly donkeys for performance, pets and therapy. Our breeding program co-exists on a 250 acre private gated farm in Chester South Carolina with Purple Donkey Human Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non profit, focused on long ear rescue and equine therapy. Applicants must have some prior breeding experience and a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience with professional references. Candidates must be US citizens or legally authorized to work in the United States. This position has reasonable hours, can be live in or local but applicants must be mature and have a minimum of 3 years verifiable professional experience with professional references.
Responsibilities include monitoring equine health and safety, feeding, turn out, monitoring facility condition and keeping barn and paddocks clean, with the help of a small support staff. Must have the ability to :
- Detect changes in equine behavior, and medical condition
- Must be mature and professional with excellent people skills
- Operate Farm some equipment, including horse trailers, small tractors
- US residency and English fluency.
- Lift 50 pounds.
- reasonable sobriety
- able to work in heat

After a trial period, 2-3 weeks paid vacation, long term disability, bonuses, etc...will be open for discussion. Salary can be complemented by additional income derived from teaching or working a sixth day or during time off.

Our program co exists on with Purple Donkey Human Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non profit, focused on long ear rescue and equine therapy. We are part of a private gated 250 acre family farm in Chester SC between Charlotte NC and Columbia SC. We are looking for a hands on full time barn manager with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a larger equine facility. Responsibilities include feeding, turn out, dealing with minor medical issues, basic halter training and managing a small group of staff and rescue volunteers. Some cleaning is involved but no night check required.
