Beverly Equestrian is seeking a Head Trainer & Coach to lead our client-centered training and show program, which blends the structure and professionalism of a private training barn with the accessibility and inclusivity of a modern Riding Club. Our approach supports every type of rider—lesson students, lessees, boarders, and top level show clients—through a thoughtful progression of horse-and-rider development and thorough, science based horse care. This is a unique opportunity for a coach who is passionate about building relationships, fostering technical growth, and helping clients succeed whether they’re showing, leasing, or learning on school horses. If you are passionate about teaching, thrive in a client-first, drama-free environment, and are looking for a long-term home with a high-integrity team, we invite you to apply. We operate a year-round program in The Plains, VA with an additional seasonal base in Wellington, FL, offering an integrated Riding Club model that supports school horse riders, part-leasers, and boarders, an onsite showing facility with local and rated hunter and jumper competitions, structured lesson and training programs designed around rider development and horse welfare and a positive, professional, and drama-free environment for riders and staff.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities include teaching lessons across all levels, from school horse riders to actively competing juniors and adults, coaching clients at local and rated shows (on-site and off-site), procurement of training, lease, and purchase options to support client goals, coordination with the Barn Manager to align lesson, exercise, and care schedules, supporting and supervising assistant instructors and grooms as needed, and maintaining strict, comprehensive and accurate digital records for lessons, billing notes, and horse care updates. Must be skilled at guiding riders along a long-term development path—from first lessons to the show ring, strong communication skills and professional demeanor with clients and staff, familiar with managing multiple horse/rider combinations including school horses, leased horses, and client-owned competition horses, comfortable using digital tools (iPads, Google Calendar, etc.), and SafeSport certified or willing to complete. Requires Financial Oversight & Accurate Billing Responsibility including noting billing of clients for training rides, medications, lessons, equipment, and therapies, maintaining all client related billing electronically (on Google calendar or Client Notes) and update same in a timely and accurate manner. Horse Fitness & Training Coordination includes coordinating scheduling of all lessons, ensuring proper grooming, tacking, and aftercare of horses and scheduling of all exercise and training rides, meeting the individual needs of horses and clients and ability, as well as monitoring injuries, fitness and rehab as needed. Requires Extensive Showing and Coaching Experience including a strong teaching and coaching background in hunter/jumper (minimum 3 years preferred), show experience at A-level shows, including warm-ups and ringside support, excellent communication and customer service skills, professional, drama-free, and compassionate attitude and approach.
