Qualifications

I have GCSEs, A-Levels, and an FdSc in Equine Performance and earned a First in BSc (Hons) Equine Management (Top-Up). I also have a Level 5 Certificate in Equine Behavioural Science.

Duties of Current Occupation

I am currently working as a yard assistant for a busy equine hospital, working as part of a small team to provide daily care to the patients, as well as with the wider team of vets and nurses to ensure the highest standards of care are provided.

Equine Work Experience

I've worked on both a private yard and a riding school-livery yard prior university, and now am working at an equine hospital.

I worked on the private yard from 2016-2019, where I was responsible for the care of 9 horses. This included stable duties, field maintenance, exercising the horses, and accompanying the owner of the yard to shows. I looked after the property and animals whilst the owner was out either competing, or was away on holiday.

I worked as a weekend groom at a riding school-livery yard from 2017-2018, as part of a team of people caring for a wide variety of horses and ponies, and helping out with lessons and hacks around the local area. As part of the job, I was working independently at times and as part of a team.

I completed 3 placements as part of my degree - two on Hartpury's yard, and one at an eventing yard.

I have experience with a wide range of equines, from foals through to old schoolmasters.

Specialities

Aside from having my own horse, I also have two donkeys, who have taught me a lot. I can work quickly and efficiently, all while keeping to high standards. I also love being organized, which has come in very useful. I value a strong work ethic, and can be depended on to do a thorough job. I love learning new things, and am always up for a challenge. Even if I have limited experience in an area, I'm always enthusiastic about giving things a go!

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden since I was 4 years old, learning to ride at a local riding school and later progressing to riding my instructor's horses. I've worked with youngsters (my own horse included), schoolmasters, and everything in between. I love flatwork and jumping, and really love going out for hacks and exploring new routes with my horse. I've competed unaffiliated, and am looking to get out more with my horse this year. I have little experience with starting horses, but would love to learn more.

Competition Details

I have competed in unaffiliated showing and showjumping prior to going to university, and after taking a break from competing I am looking to get back to this later on in the year.
