I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
First year Level 3 Diploma in equine management. 8 GCSE’s grade A-C including English, Maths and science.
Feeding, mucking out, keeping yard tidy, bring in and turn out, schooling, tacking up for lessons, arena set up for clinics/ show nights, clipping and tack cleaning.
Volunteered at a small riding school from the ages of 13 to the age of 16. This included all the usual hard duties as well as exercising and schooling the school horses. Then went on to Reasheath college studying the Level 3 diploma in equine management and ridden diploma for a year which included 6 weeks of work experience at a showjumping/ livery yard and working at high profile shows like HOYS and Bolesworth international. Then just before I turned 18 I secured a full time job as yard staff at a competition/livery yard and riding school. Which is when I bought my first horse a 17hh 10 year old grade B showjumper from the Netherlands who’s had a troubled past and I have been training with him as a project to get him happy with his work again and hopefully back out competing soon. I know basic equine first aid and have quick reactions in difficult situations
Happy to ride anything from a 14hh riding school pony that needs schooling to hot headed show jumpers that need regular high maintenance excercise. I have jumped up to 1m10 and can ride up to prelim dressage tests. I would love to be given the chance to expand my ridden experience with more professional horses and trainers.
Not much experience at competitions as a groom but always willing to learn new skills and I am eager to become a trainee/ apprentice in this area.
