Qualifications

I have completed my first year in BSc (HONS) Equine Sport Science and Coaching, having confidently passed all of my theoretical and practical exams. I expect to complete my BHS coaching and care exams next year.

Equine Work Experience

I have worked in an RDA yard since I was 8, initially as a volunteer and then paid up until I left for uni. I still help out there as and when I’m needed. There I assisted with coaching, caring for the horses and interacting with customers and clients.

Specialities

Currently an undergraduate at Bishop Burton University studying BSc (HONS) Equine Sport Science and Coaching, this is a course focused on advanced equitation and coaching all levels in dressage and showjumping. While jumping has my heart, I have developed a love for the precision of dressage while studying and taking ridden lessons in equitation (my horse not so much!) At uni I have found an affinity for young / green horses, my lecturers are now focusing my practical sessions in that direction.

Type of Ride Work

I currently ride a full range of horses daily at uni, ranging from young and green to old and cantankerous. I own a grade C jumper. I have ridden all types, ranging from freshly off the track racers to Grand Prix jumpers owned by Olympian Robert Smith, and pretty much everything in between. I have rehabilitated an abused trotter, who went from an emaciated state to now jumping and hacking as a confidence giver. I am routinely put on those with bucking and broncing habits.

Competition Details

I am competing at 90cm while confidently schooling at 100 - 105cm. I have competed in low level dressage but have not taken it any further yet as I am concentrating on my education. I have groomed for Rebecca Ravillious at a one day BSJ.
