Equine Work Experience
I have over 25 years’ experience riding, caring for and owning horses, with a background in professional equestrian environments. Early in my career, I worked as a groom for an eventing family, taking sole responsibility for a yard, including daily stable management, feeding, grooming, exercising and general horse care. I have experience working within liveries and equestrian centres, assisting with lessons and working confidently with young horses, eventers and sports horses. Internationally, I have worked as a groom at equestrian centres in Greece and Spain, supporting lessons from beginner level through to advanced riding. I have also led multi-day trekking groups, including week-long rides covering significant distances. My experience encompasses all aspects of yard management, horse welfare, grooming, feeding, tack care and maintaining high standards of stable cleanliness
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden a wide range of horses over 25 years, including eventers, sports horses, youngsters and horses at varying stages of training. My experience includes schooling, flatwork, jumping and cross-country, as well as riding young and inexperienced horses. I am confident adapting my riding to suit different temperaments, abilities and levels of training, from reliable schoolmasters to more challenging or green horses.
Competition Details
I worked in a small competition yard for an intermediate-level eventer , Taking sole charge for horses and yard. My responsibilities included daily stable management, grooming, feeding, turnout, exercise, tack care and maintaining the yard. I supported the horses’ preparation for training and competition, ensuring high standards of care, organisation and welfare while working independently and managing the yard during the owner’s absence.
