I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I have 10 GCSEs and have completed my A levels.
I have also recently gained 2 distinctions in my Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horse Care
Head girl at a small livery yard. Daily care of the horses, dealing with clients and owners
I have two horses - an 11 year old ex racehorse whom I have retrained since a 4 year old and recently a 19 year old ISH.
I started riding at 6 years old at a local riding school, eventually progressing to leading clients and liveries out on hacks before moving on.
I exercised a young mare for her owner during pregnancy for a period of time.
I worked for a showjumper whilst I was younger to gain more experience and knowledge, which included me travelling to shows on a regular basis.
During school, I also did a week of work experience for Tina Fletcher at her showjumping yard.
During my apprenticeship I have worked for an event rider and a Parelli instructor.
At the professional eventing yard I assisted with show preparation, travelling, sole charge and daily care of horses raging from youngstock to 3* level.
At the Parelli yard I have aided with liveries, clients and admin work.
I am also the winner for the Haddon Training Apprentice Groom of the Year 2019 award!
I specialise in working with difficult horses on the ground using a variety of methods to include natural horsemanship. I further enjoy assisting horse and rider combinations with problems they are having and try to come up with a simple, yet achievable solution. I’m not afraid of long hours and hard work and maintain a positive attitude throughout.
I'm happy to do schooling, as i am confident in walk/trot/canter. I used to jump, however my confidence has been knocked - this is improving the more i jump. I also enjoy hacking and i am defiantly eager to try new disciplines too!
I have groomed at multiple competitions, with a focus on Showjumping and Eventing. I have groomed for several liveries at a previous yard and I am always one step ahead with what needs to be done. I have also assisted in lessons at a trainers base and having multiple horses ready on time.
