currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. Quiet but firm rider, who can deal with quirks if necessary. Ideally within 30 mins of Newark but happy to travel up to an hour for the right place.
From Showjumping, to showing/eventing and foals through to stallions I have experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. I am looking for my next long term journey where I can spend my days working with the animals I love, and carry out my exceptionally high standards for the right person.
I attended West Texas A&M from Fall of 2018 to Fall of 2021 where I earned my B.S. in Equine Industry & Business and minors in Animal Science and English. My classes consisted of Equine Care & Management, Equine Reproduction, Equine Liability Laws, Equine Nutrition, and similar equine related classes. Classes ranged from classroom instruction to hands on care/riding with the school owned horses. I also cared for and rode school owned horses as an equestrian team member.
B.S. Equine Industry & Business, have worked as a working student/exercise rider/groom, 3.5 years on the WT Equestrian Team as a Hunt Seat Flat and Over Fences rider.
I have 10+ years worth of experience at various barns (Hunter/Jumper, Eventing, Showjumping) as a student/working student/groom. I spent 3.5 years (graduated early) as a member of the West Texas A&M Equestrian Team (IHSA, Zone 7).
I've worked with an extremely wide range of horses, from mini ponies to 17hh quarter horses, from 5 years of age to nearly 30, from been there done that lesson horses to competitive showjumpers. I am comfortable in exercising/schooling, lunging, grooming/clipping, feeding, mucking, rehabilitation work/treatments etc. and I am always happy to learn new skills or new methods of doing things. I consider myself highly teachable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
I've ridden horses from 6 years of age to 20+, ranging from semi-green under saddle to old pros in need of simple and light exercise. I'm most experienced in flatwork but can comfortably jump 2'6" and I am always willing to aim higher. I've ridden several horses with the intent to develop them into comfortable and safe jumping horses and working through related problems (e.g. bucking, ducking, and refusals).
I have limited show experience due to divorced parents growing up, but competed in IHSA while attending West Texas A&M. I competed in IHSA Novice, Limit Flat and Over Fences, and Intermediate Flat and Over Fences. I competed in IHSA Nationals in spring 2019, was Regional Champion in Novice in spring 2020 before competitions were shut down for Covid which derailed the rest of my regional/zone/national show appearances for my college career.
