I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
I’ve been riding for 26 years and have 20 years of work experience. I’ve taught lessons up to 2’6” and navigated students through their first horse shows. I’ve school hunters/jumpers through 3’, eventing through novice, and dressage through 2nd level. I’ve groomed at shows for an AA/FEI hunter jumper barn. I’ve managed and assisted management of a small breeding barn and a dressage/eventing barn, respectively. I have also been a veterinary assistant in both the field and hospital setting.
I currently train green horses, exercise fox hunters, and show client horses in dressage and eventing locally in southern pines.
I’ve worked in many capacities in the horse industry over the past 20 years. I’ve been a farm hand and a working student for a lower level hunter jumper barn through high school. While in college I spent summers as an assistant trainer and farm manager at an eventing and dressage barn and transitioned to full time after college, this is where I began teaching lessons. I spent one summer managing a family friend’s small breeding farm to gain valuable experience.
More recently, I worked as a large animal attendant at NC State CVM from 2017-2018. I then worked for Hillary Simpson at Palmyra Enterprises, LLC from 2018-2020 where I groomed and trained at the AA/FEI level. Since then, I have been working part time training and retraining horses for clients in the southern pines area.
My specialties include working with green and difficult horses using groundwork to develop calm & confident horses under saddle.
I’m a skilled groom with the ability to turn out to the AA/FEI level, including clipping and braiding (jumpers). I also lunge (not chase with a whip) and long line as well.
I’m a capable handler with extensive experience in many settings including: medical emergencies, high stress horse shows, jogging for vets, and working with young/lightly handled horses.
All of my experience has been in Hunter/Jumpers, Eventing, and Dressage. I’ve spent most of my time working with problem horses and green horses, but I’m also happy to spend time in the show ring when desired. I’m also experienced in using ground work to help build more confident and relaxed horses under saddle.
As most of my experience has been working with young and difficult horses, I don’t have an extensive show record. I’ve competed through novice level eventing, training level dressage, and 2’9” hunters.
