I started getting riding lessons at around age 10 at a riding centre for a couple of weeks until i moved back home, where a family friend carried on teaching me to ride. I got my own horse on loan a couple of years back, and got lessons off the woman who loaned him to me, while also hacking out and had him stabled through the winter so was up every night. When he went back I started taking riding lessons again at the same place i did when I was younger, and then did volunteer working for a week, which involved, mucking out, helping customers onto the horses before riding and making sure they were comfortable, I was also lead reining and walking beside children going down for their lessons.
I got a conditional offer to go to oatridge campus last year down near Edinburgh to do an National Certificate in horse care but did also get told i should apply for the Advanced NC , but due to family issues at the time i couldnt attend.
