I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
Some college completed.
Most recently, I worked at a golf course, taking care of the grounds and equipment.
I've worked in three separate equine facilities. The first was a boarding, lesson, and show barn in Ohio. This is where I have learned about all aspects of personal horse care. Here, I assisted with foaling, imprinting young stock, daily training regimens, exercise, and student lessons. This of course included all of the regular stable chores for about 18 horses.
After moving to Florida, I joined a team at the county equestrian complex where I cared for dozens of animals each workday. I would set up the arena for competitions and assist with weekly events.
I became a barn manager at a western reining facility in North Carolina. There were about 30 competition horses that were in different stages of training, which I would schedule with the trainers. Occasionally I would ride, but would never perform any reining maneuvers. Along with regular chores, I groomed, tacked, wrapped, bathed, and iced horses every day.
I've only ever had the opportunity to ride western, but I am very willing to transition. After seeing the many injuries associated with the reining discipline, I am very happy to learn the world of English riding.
