I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
in horse world terms: I don't have any written and testified qualifications. (except for one "young breeders" seminar that I participated in some years ago). So basically all I can offer is 15 years of untestified practical experience and tons of love for the sport and the horses! However I do have some qualifications in other areas, I've had a couple of communicative jobs and some in the NGO sector. I also learned how to be a school paramedic, which still turns out to be handy quite often.
right now: studying...
I started working with horses independently through riding participations a while ago. After finishing high school in 2018 I came to Canada where I spent more than three months at the BC Appaloosa Centre - with more than 150 horses, riding 4-6 hours a day. I learned how to train a lot of different horses - from starting a three-year old under the saddle to riding them out for the first time. The best opportunity I had there was a traditional horse drive - bringing ninety horses in from their summer pasture and organizing all that on horseback. Quite a bit of time already passed since then (now that I think of it: Wow, it's been almost three years...) and meanwhile I got the chance to work with a couple of Arabians on a friend's stud and ride a bit back home in Germany.
To learn something new is always something I love to. I'm easily fulfilled with enthousiasm for everything, so I have many hobbies (primarily of course riding, but I also love to sing, playing the piano, dancing, hiking, ...) and I love to improve them. In connection to horses I guess my skills are mostly a very safe seat and a soft hand.
I somehow never really got into that, mainly I guess because it never came up... (I do love the atmosphere though!)
