I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.

Helping to care for 43 horses on a horse safari in South Africa as well as treating sick or injured horses and being a backup guide.
I have spent the best part of the last two years working as a guide/groom on a very high end horse safari in South Africa and in Argentina. Prior to this I owned and retrained a TB ex-racehorse that I solely cared for 9 years. Whilst at University I worked as head groom at a small livery yard where I was solely responsible for the 10 liveries for a minimum of two days a week. Whilst I was caring for the horses I would do the daily checks, grooming, administer any medication or necessary treatments, prepare feeds for each horse’s specific dietary and health needs, turning out, cleaning tack, mucking out and changing rugs/bandages. I would also exercise the horses depending on their individual needs. I have also stayed over night to care for sick or injured horses during the night when necessary.
On top of usual the yard duties I have also had to treat ill or injured horses. Here are a few examples of the treatments that I am competent in – worming, hogging a mane, poulticing, taking temperatures, IM and subcutaneous injections, removing staples/stitches, leg bandages, disinfecting cuts, treating thrush, taking a horses pulse, treating African Horse Sickness, delousing and de-ticking.
I have ridden for the last 23 years. I used to compete as a child in France but since moving to the UK 12 years ago I've only done hacking. Whilst I was working in SA I would have to exercise all of the "experienced" horses as well as schooling and lunging them to make sure they had no behavioural issues and were "guest ready". I also reschooled and retrained my ex racehorse to be ridden bitless but she has now sadly has just passed.
Evented as a child but I haven't done much jumping recently.
